Free live music continues in June when some of the finest jazz, swing, folk and blues acts will be entertaining visitors every weekend.
Saturday 1st June - Hot Club of Clowntown
Fans of the fiery gypsy jazz of Djano Rheinhart et al will love the passion and authenticity of the Hot Club. Built upon the duelling acoustic guitar sounds of Sheffield's own Brian Day and Dan Lownde-Smith, this band are the perfect relaxed, toe tapping listen for a summer's trip to Leopold Square.
Sunday 2nd June - Katie Stewart
Local lass Katie has established herself as a great singer in the jazz/soul/blues/pop genre, and can be seen performing regularly all over the region. A full rhythm section will be backing her up.
Saturday 8th June - Jeremy Sassoon
Jeremy is a well-established name on the UK jazz scene and is a regular at Ronnie Scott's in London, where he also performed for the 2012 London Olympics with his Ray Charles big band.
Sunday 9th June – Phil Johnson
One of the UK's most in-demand session drummers steps into the limelight to showcase his vocal and keyboard skills. With a band of Sheffield's finest, Phil always entertains with a mix of jazz standards, gutsy blues, and pop classics.
Saturday 15th June - Papa Soul
Authentic, gritty, and punchy soul delivered by an 8-piece Sheffield groove machine. Papa Soul deliver funky pleasures and visitors won't be sitting down for long.
Sunday 16th June - Dr Fat Lip
This new Sheffield-based instrumental funk band brings together some of the city's most exciting young talent, mixing together original tunes and some stone-cold funk classics.
Saturday 22nd June - Larry Van Kriedt
From Australia, via Los Angeles, to sunny Sheffield, Larry has seen it and done it all. Now playing some tasty guitar and singing jazz, soul, blues and world influenced jams, Larry has raw authenticity and musical experience in spades.
Sunday 23rd June - The Red Canary Dance Band
A fresh take on the dance hall swing of yesteryear. This Leeds band evokes the wartime polkas, foxtrots, and swing of the Andrews Sisters.
Sunday 30th June - Steel City Soul
Uniting some of the UK's finest session players behind the mighty soul voice of Marcia Campbell, this is the North's freshest pop, soul and funk outfit.
