Exceptional performers bringing 2023 summer of free live music to a rambunctious end
Our 2023 summer of free live music is coming to a close at the end of September, but not before some of the best jazz, funk, soul and blues performers that the region has to offer have entertained visitors every Saturday and Sunday.
Blue Seven Jazz will get guests on the terraces tapping their toes when they kick off September's line-up on Saturday 2nd. Kat Eaton, who has steadily been making a name for herself in the UK and overseas, will be performing on Sunday 3rd September. Having already toured the UK and Europe supporting various artists, including Jools Holland, Paul Carrack and The Teskey Brothers, Kat has established herself as one of the hardest-working and talented performers in her field.
The ultimate crowd pleasers the Langsett Dance Orchestra take over on Saturday 9th September and are possibly one of the biggest ensembles to fit under the legendary Leopold Square gazebo! The Ryan Taylor Hammond Quintet will be in The Square on Sunday 10th performing some rip-roaring and riotous jazz, swing and Latin grooves.
Get ready for something different on Saturday 16th when the quirky and ever-entertaining Hong Kong to Harlem will be taking guests on a funky journey celebrating the iconic movies from a golden era of funk, soul and disco. There will be dancing on the terraces on Sunday 17th when Phil Johnson steps into the limelight to showcase his vocal and keyboard skills. With a band of Sheffield's finest, Phil always entertains with a mix of jazz standards, gutsy blues, and pop classics.
Local legends and Leopold Square favourites Montuno will get the final weekend under way on Saturday 23rd September, before The Power Trio bring one last afternoon of next level funk, soul, disco, hip-hop and house music on Sunday 24th.
