Introducing The Power Trio, a dynamic neo-soul/jazz ensemble led by the multi-talented visionary Ryan Taylor. Renowned for his keyboard prowess, soulful vocals, and charismatic stage presence, Ryan channels the spirit of James Brown, Herbie Hancock, Cory Henry, Chick Corea, Jimmy Smith and Prince as he masterfully orchestrates the band's sonic journey.
Joined by bass virtuoso Alex McGibbon, whose slap bass artistry pays homage to the golden era of the '70s and '80s, and whose collection of vintage brown basses is a testament to his deep musical roots. Tom Townsend completes the trio with an authenticity and versatility that sets the perfect foundation for their sonic explorations.
The Power Trio's allure has graced prestigious stages worldwide, with Ryan Taylor's headline performances at the illustrious Glastonbury Jazz Stage and a residency at Dubai's iconic Burj al Arab, solidifying their reputation as a global force in the contemporary jazz scene. Their local presence remains a staple, with Taylor's collaborations with renowned local artists such as Nicola Farnon, Steve Edwards, The Dizzy Club, Katie Bosworth, Fusion Inusual, Acoustic Angels, Julian Jones, Billie Jane, Emily West, (the list goes on and on) captivating audiences with every face-melting solo, infectious groove, and funky nastiness.
